If you’re reading this you probably like music or even if you’re not reading this you probably still like music. ⊙_ʘ
Anyways, I’ve found that for music-lovers across the realms of the world, they’re always in search of new, spicy jams to kick up their life, play down the atmosphere they’re in, or even set a certain mood.
I remember just this past summer while I was in Nepal, after receiving an entire list of the most poppin’ songs by Nepali artists I felt like I was holding a pocket full of money. Like WOW thank you for giving me a fresh set of music I probably would never have discovered on my own.
There’s a few people in my life that I know have really good music taste and these people can somehow discover really cool underground artists that I then play on repeat for days on end. ON A SIDE NOTE: I feel like my mind is a never-ending playlist on repeat with songs–of varying quality–running through my head and out the door of my mouth. *Sorry if you were bothered by my humming during our Biology final freshman year of high school–I promise I didn’t know lol.
Some songs (and we’re using that word becus “jams” are going to reserved for only those rlly cool songs!!!… and not all the songs stuck in my head are jams n’am sayin’) that have been on repeat and which I hum or sing all the time have been (and pls don’t judge):
ALSO DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE NOT THE 7 JAMS YET, PLS WAIT PATIENTLY
1). Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer by Gene Autry
(super catchy and imo sometimes annoying, but hey 40mil other ppl on Youtube seem to really like it)
2). Single Ladies by QUEEN B
3). Someday We’ll Know by Mandy Moore ft Jonathan Foreman
but actually this song is so cute & kinda sad too h a h a
AND THERE’S MANY OTHERS
but thanks for waiting so patiently, and now we will usher in the juicy part of this post with the “7 Jams You Need For Life’s Occasions!”
Now I know that we all can have pretty different music taste and have our brains activated by some tunes more so than others, but since I pretty much like bits and pieces of every type of music (ya even country duh!! shoutout to 105.1 country on FM radio socal) I’ve tried to include varying types of music so that HOPEFULLY by the end of this you’ll have added at least one jam to your poppin’ playlist.
***I would highly recommend listening to these with headphones to get the FULL SOUND EXPERIENCE.
Occasion #1: Dancing Through the City-Twist by Nathan Sykes
As I was hiking down Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh, Scotland I was feeling a bit of pain in my right foot which made me grimace hard. By the time I had hit the foot of the hill though, I was entering the city and headed towards the center, with a resolve to take in the beauty of the city irrespective of my discomfort. And daaang, Edinburgh is so worth it!!
Twist is the perfect song, with its blazing instrumentals and “oooh oooh” background singers and WHOOO it’s very high energy (I’m sorry they only have a Live version on Youtube so pls ignore the screaming girls that is not part of the song -_-) Checkout Spotify for the scream-less version.
Occasion #2: Canalyzing Down a River-The Ocean by Mike Perry
A couple of tips for if you ever go canoeing (which I like to call either “canoezing” or “canalzying”):
- Compare prices between canoe rental places! Just two blocks apart, the prices between two different places saved us a cup of warm stroopwaffles.
- Put your phone in a plastic bag if you wanna take pix of the gorgeous views & then bump it down the river listening to The Ocean as you get dem arm workouts.
Occasion #3: Painting & Feeling Moody-The Most by Ginette Claudette
There are those days you want to get out your watercolors and paintbrushes and vibe to the emotions of a song. Sometimes, it just feels nice to soak in the essence of a song especially when it is as dramatic as The Most. I mean c’mon the lyrics “I want you to know that I’m ready for war, I ain’t gonna let you go that easy,” make you wonder what happened in the relationship up to that point. And yes, it was the source of inspiration for my watercolor painting.
Occasion #4: Pump Up-Today is Yesterday’s Tomorrow by Michael Bublé
If you ever need a jam to pump up your morning just remember what Bublé says.
“The future is upon us.” So why wait any longer? Do what you plan to do now!! What’s the occasion? TODAY!
Occasion #5: Workout-Thinking of You (Roulsen Remix) by HEART FX
Good songs distract from that tight feeling you get when u doin’ ab workouts. And something like Thinking of You (Roulsen Remix) also helps keep that adrenaline going as you do bicycles to the beat of the music. Get workin’, YOU GOT DIS!!
Occasion #6: Slow Dance-So Close by Jon McLaughlin
I love a good slow dance song because they’re fun and let you slow down after lots of extremely bumpin’ mainstream music, hence, the name “slow dance.” So grab your daddy, roommate, lady, or fella, or whoever is in the room and ooooooooh feel those Jon McLaughlin vibes with So Close. Also, enjoy the very cute and very cheesy scene from Enchanted.
Occasion #7: Coming Home-Coming Home by Gwyneth Paltrow
Home is a place like no other–where you can take off your shoes, have a dance party, and be absolutely free in who you are. For everyone out all day, gone on a trip, or living long(er) term from home, here’s a song for ya on that trip home.
” It’s a four letter word
A place you go to heal your hurt
It’s an altar, it’s a shelter“
And that wraps it up with the jams for *some* of life’s occasions!! And yes, I have actually listened to these songs personally for these specific occasions (aside from one or two maybe just hypotheical heh). If you have hidden jams (or not so hidden) that you’d like to share, PLEASE leave a comment. Everyone can always use a boost to their life playlist.
Peace & Potaters,
P.S. Let me know which is your favoooritee jam!! (OR least, no hard feelings).
